Beginner's Soap Making

Whether you're looking to make natural soaps for gifts, fun or profit you've found the perfect course to get you started. And when you're ready (which won't be long) you'll want to move to the intermediate and advanced techniques courses.
If you’ve never tried a bar of real natural hand made soap (as opposed to those skin drying detergent bars from the supermarket), you’re in for a real treat. If you have tried one, and know just how wonderful it is, you’ll be surprised that making your own fantastic soaps is not as difficult as you think. With our hands-on step by step beginners course you'll be soaping up some wonderful creations in no time.
Prerequisite:  None.  This course is for anyone with little to no experience in natural soap making.  Ages 16 years +
What to bring:  We'll be working with natural oils (olive, coconut etc.) so an old long sleeved shirt and covered footwear is a good idea.  An apron also, if you like.  We'll supply everything else including morning tea & a light lunch.
What you take home:  A fully comprehensive step by step manual with tried & true recipes, the soap creations you make on the day (3 kgs of soap, approx. 30 bars worth).

Soy Candles & Melts Coming Soon

Ok we have been considering soy candles & melts for a long time now, but were just too afraid to do them, only because we tend to get totally obsessed with new things/products.  But, we visited our soap mother the other day (Janice Payne of Just D'lish Soaps) www.justdlishsoaps.com.au who is an amazing soy candle manufacturer who totally empassioned us about candles.  So stay tuned!  Next week we are visiting our new supplier of everything soy and we look forward to getting really obsessed with the moooooost beautiful fragrances to totally delight your home ambience.  We can't wait to share all our wonderful fragrances and discoveries in soy candles and melts for you.  The scents that are going to fill your home and office with our soy candles and wax melts are going to be amazing!

Bubble Bars are a HIT!

Well they are finally here - the Bubble Bars are a hit. Thanks for the great feedback from our customer guinea pigs :)  Yes, they are nice and bubbly and soooooo fragrant.  More will be popping up on the website soon.  We can't wait to get our cocktail bubble bar range up there for you all to delight in.

We've had a lot of interest in the bubble bars, and a lot of requests to expand our range of bubble bars.  Just want to let you know we are taking our time with these for a couple of reasons.  Basically, anyone who is familiar with bubble bars has tried LUSH Cosmetics' bubble bars.  While we believe the firmness and structure of the bars is good, we don't always feel the fragrances are strong enough and the bubbles are just don't seem impressive enough.  We are designing our formula to exceed theirs which means they will not contain surfactants that are undesirable for those with sensitive skin issues.  Lush bubble bars contain some ingredients that are basically unecessary and questionable.  We aim to have our bubble bars be completely naturally derived ingredients, but this is quite a challenge, so please bare with us.

We've created a new soap today.  Lavender Flowers, Rosemary, Rose Geranium and a touch of neroli orange blossoms - smells like a cottage garden just after a light refreshing Spring rain.  Not sure what to call it, so we thought we would give a free bar to the first person that comes up with a lovely name for it.

OUTBACK SCRUB

Happy New Year everyone!  We're back at work restocking all those lovely natural soaps you bought before Christmas.  Here's a pic of our freshly cut Outback Scrub.  Such a celebration of Australia with its Eucalyptus & Lemon Myrtle essential oils.  The turquoise blue of our surrounding waters and the deep rainforest greens and outback ochres makes this an exceptionally beautiful soap.  Contains just the right amount of natural pumice exfoliating grains.

Merry Christmas

We want to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers, friends and distributors a very Merry Christmas & a bright and prosperous New Year.  We have some great ideas for next year, and we can't wait to share them.

Doughnut Soaps - So unbelievably REAL!

Robin has amazed us again with his new doughnut soaps;  they look so real I had to resist licking the 'soap' bowl after he finished icing those chocolate doughnuts.  These will be available in the shop online at http://www.planetyum.com.au/ as soon as they are ready for use.  We have had so many requests for these that they'll sell quickly - looks like Rob will be getting no sleep soon. :)

Hibiscus Cocoa Butter Cream Soap

 Get your Hawaiian shirts on and pop a hibiscus behind your ear - here is Planet Yum's wonderful Hibiscus Cocoa Butter Cream Soap freshly made yesterday.  I'm tickled that it turned out looking a bit like a Hawaiian shirt! A wonderful Summertime blend of florals and fruits.  The beautiful Hibiscus flower doesn't have a scent, apart from a few rare types, but on Planet Yum we imagined what the Hibiscus could smell like.  We carefully blended fruity top notes of apple, black currant, lime, and bergamot, leading to a heady floral middle of jasmine and rose, with a warm, sexy drydown of white musk, amber, and sandalwood. Strong, true and loooong-lasting fragrance you love.

If you love Calvin Klein's Obsession you're going to love our Obsession Cocoa Butter Cream Soap.  I love how the swirls turned out in this soap.  It's a delicious blend of mandarin leaf, orange blossoms, Bulgarian rose & vetiver.  Deep base notes of sandalwood, bourbon vanilla labdanum and tonka bean.  To die for!!!!!!

 Wow, wow, wow!  This is basically what people have been saying about our Spiced Mahogany Cocoa Butter Cream Soap.  We originally intended this as a man's soap, but so many women love it for themselves - but many also are loving the scent on their men.  It is a mix of rare woods such as ebony, mahogany, apple wood, with some spicier notes of Italian bergamot, cedarwood and patchouli.  It is a very grounding, earthy fragrance that truly centres you.

Our New Soap Formula - Even Creamier!

Just to let you all know we have enriched our cold processed soap base recipe with canola oil.  This oil has a creamier lather and is very soft & silky on the skin.  We still using the pure olive oil though!
